Neve ParitzkiIsrael's first cycling tunnel is inaugurated in Jerusalem

The Kerem Tunnel allows for a an experience that is unique in terms of hiking and riding.
The Kerem Tunnel, Israel's first bicycle tunnel, was opened as part of the Jerusalem Ring Path. This 42-kilometer cycling route surrounds Jerusalem.

The tunnel is located through the Nahal-Refaim-Emek-Motza path. Its southern entrance is in Refaim Park under Ein Laban. The northern entry, Nahal Ein Kerem, is just half a kilometer away from the Nahal Ein Kerem junction.

The opening ceremony of the tunnel, which is 2.1 kilometers long was held in Jerusalem and the Heritage Minister Ze'ev Elkin Mayor Moshelion, Avi Baleshnikov (Gihon water company chairman) as well as a plethora of cyclists.

The Kerem Tunnel, originally excavated by the Gihon Corporation in the 1990s in order to move its main sewer line to Sorek's purification plant.

Road construction, installation , and testing of safety and electrical systems are just some of the ongoing projects to make the tunnel safer for all seasons.
